Our vision is for The Bridge Academy to be an exceptional place where every student can make the most of their talents and abilities.
We have very high aims for the Academy and our students. We are committed to creating an inspiring culture of aspiration, achievement and learning that will lead to the highest possible standards. We aim to broaden our students' horizons and motivate them to see the exciting possibilities within the wider worlds of work and higher education as they develop into the citizens of tomorrow.
Our Mathematics and Music specialisms give our students a wide range of fantastic opportunities within a broad and bold curriculum. These opportunities don’t stop at the end of the Academy Day. Students will take part in a variety of enrichment and extension activities, clubs and societies.
Our new Principal, Stephen Foster, joined the academy in January 2010 He came to us from two previous headships in Newham and Bexley. Mr Foster brings an outstanding track record of achievement and was recently described by Ofsted as providing “inspirational leadership”. His profound commitment to education, his students and to what the Bridge Academy can be, is evident in all he does.
The Bridge Academy is home to a team of highly committed and talented staff who make learning stimulating and enjoyable. The Academy itself occupies a superb, purpose-built building, alongside the canal, with outstanding facilities and it is integral to the Academy’s vision that we are at the heart of the community we serve.
As the Chair of Governors, I am excited by the opportunity to work with
the whole community to realise our ambition for The Bridge Academy. The Academy’s sponsor UBS, the city financial firm, has supported education in Hackney for more
than 15 years. The Bridge Academy represents its biggest, single long-term commitment as part of a wider drive to raise educational standards in Hackney.
UBS’s staff volunteer their time at the Academy and work with students and staff on a wide range of activities including Maths and English intervention and the Maths and Music specialisms. Through UBS the academy is introduced to, and builds links with some of London’s most prestigious organisations.
