Enrichment and Clubs
Clubs
At The Bridge Academy we believe that we have a role in educating the whole child. This means much more than that which happens in the mainstream curriculum. A key function of the school is to provide links to the wider world, encouraging our students to be aware of the exciting range of life experiences available to them. By providing opportunities for students to engage in activities outside of the classroom, we hope to encourage them to see themselves as young people entitled to and able to take advantage of, culturally enriching experiences throughout their lives. Many of the clubs provide the opportunities below:
• Study clubs
• Sports activities
• Musical activities
• Artistic activities
• Student council or other forum in which their views can be expressed
• Leadership opportunities
• Careers/ Progression visits to FE, VI form or University
Enrichment
The ethos of Enrichment on a Monday is to broaden the curriculum choice of every student in the Academy. These lessons are specifically designed to raise the aspirations and achievement levels of young people by extending their study of a subject linked to the Academy or Academy curriculum. They provide an opportunity for students to make use of the facilities and expertise within The Bridge Academy as well as providing an insight into learning at higher education level.
This means that students will get the opportunity to develop further skills in subjects that really interest them. It also enables those students who are gifted and talented in particular areas a chance to immerse themselves for a deeper learning experience challenging and developing further skills.
Additionally, Enrichment also provides the opportunity for students to get extra support within subject areas further contextualising the subject knowledge and enriching their experience in a friendly and sustained way.
There are also opportunities to develop skills not offered in the conventional curriculum but which help students to develop into independent and confident young people.

Enrichment changes after February Half Term
After half term we will try and give students who did not get their first choice in September, their first choice for the changeover. We try to meet all the needs of all students as closely as possible; this includes liaising with our pastoral team as well.
To summarise:
- Students who did not get their first choice - we will try and match for after half term.
- Those students who attend clubs by invitation only, will be placed according to teacher requests.
- Curriculum Subjects; French, Spanish and History will continue as normal with the same students.
- Students for Intervention in Year 11 will be selected by subject leaders in English, Maths and Science.
The new start date for Enrichment will be Monday 25th February 2013.
