Bridge Academy Homepage6th FormProposed Development

Sixth Form Centre Proposed Development

The Bridge Academy is housed in a unique vertical building.  To redress the balance between the number of students and building capacity, the Academy’s proposal is to build on top of the existing Performance Hall roof creating seven classrooms suitable for Sixth Form study (please refer to draft architectural plans).

In order to ensure value for money and time constraints the proposed new Sixth Form will be a lightweight material construction, standing seam roof, timber cladding façade with windows to address the shortage of existing accommodation. It will be situated on the existing site and will sit on top of the performance hall building.

The new development will satisfy our student’s desire to study at Advanced Levels and further their education within the existing aspirational learning environment; and the Academy’s desire that these students become onsite role models to inspire students lower down the school.

Covering a total area of 329 sqm, the development will provide increased flexibility and will support the growth of the Academy overall as the student population increases.   The structure will accommodate our total of 250 learners creating 125 additional places across 7 flexible teaching spaces: on average each class will accommodate 20 students per lesson.

The building works will be carried out with minimal disruption to teaching and learning for existing students at the Academy and is achievable within the specified timeframe.
