Welcome from the Principal

I believe strongly in giving students an opportunity to be successful in all areas of school life, creating the right climate to allow them to prosper and benefit fromthe privileges and responsibilities of being a member of this community.  The Bridge Academy provides a stimulating and rich learning experience where studentsare given every opportunity to succeed within a culture of respect.  The Academy is committed to helping students achieving personal development, academic excellence and key skills for employment.

We want a strong partnership with parents and carers so that we can work together to ensure students make the most of their time here. By providing strong, purposeful leadership, the Academy allows students to express their individuality appropriately in an environment where they feel safe and respected. Confident students respect other people’s opinions, listen to others and follow instructions.

From day one, every student is treated as an individual. We also get to know each child before they arrive through our close relationships withlocal primary schools and their staff. Learning and teaching is tailored to each student’s abilities and they make progress against a clear set of expectations which are regularly reviewed. Parents and carers are kept fully informed about their child, and there are opportunities to meet staff to discuss any issue relating to their child’s education at the Academy, as well as at regular parents’ evenings.

The whole school community comes together around an important set of rules. We attach great importance to our distinctive uniform.  Students take a pride in wearing it, and we work to ensure that every single day they come to the Academy dressed appropriately. We actively work with parents and carers to ensure this happens. We expect exemplary behaviour from our students and staff at all times so that learning can take place in a calm and orderly environment. We also place a high value on punctuality and attendance, and work with parents and carers to achieve this.

The Bridge Academy attaches great importance to its partnerships with the local community and those with prestigious organisations such as Queen Mary University of London and The London Symphony Orchestra. As the Academy grows, these will expand and provide additional opportunities for students to have a rich educational experience.
