Young Artists’ Summer Show
Earlier in the term we invited some of our very talented art students from across the school to submit and entry for the Royal Academy Young Artist Summer Show. The RA have looked through over 3000 entries from across the country and out of our 32 students, they selected the work of Parwin Nejim, 9 Southwark, for their on -line exhibition!
We are very proud of all of the entries and invite you to view their submissions below in our own virtual Bridge Summer Show. We also hope to exhibit the work in school for the other students to see.
RA YOUNG ARTISTS SUMMER SHOW GALLERY
During lockdown, The Bridge Academy students and staff were invited by UBS to take part in a collaborative art installation, inspired by the work of Anthony Gormley, in particular his 1993 installation, Field for the British Isles. Each participant was given a block of air drying clay and instructed to sculpt a figure, with the simple instructions that it must have eyes and be able to stand up on its own – the outcome was amazing! Each little figure certainly had a personality of its own, and, as you can see from the pictures, despite their individuality, they all came together as one little terracotta community when installed on site at UBS. I’d like to thank UBS for involving us and other schools in the Hackney area in such a special project that I know we will all remember as a positive moment amidst a very trying time.
