The House System

The Bridge Academy has a thriving ‘House System’. There are six Houses named after London bridges:

In their Houses, students gain ‘House points’ for retaining their achievement points each week. In addition, students participate in a range of activities including competitions, sporting events and charity fundraising events to gain points for their House. The House System is designed to encourage students to extend their learning in a range of curriculum areas and to foster a sense of belonging and health competition amongst peers. Through the House system students develop their sense of community cohesion and responsibility. It provides the framework by which all students are challenged and supported to achieve their best and to help others.

The House system runs vertically (houses consist of students from all year groups). At the end of each half term, the House with the most House points wins the coveted House shield. Annually, the House with the most House points will win the House Cup.

House Sport:

All students participate in our termly Sports Weeks where they will be able gain points for their House. Additional House points are gained from attendance to extra-curricular clubs and participation in schemes such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s award.
